Recreational: Deterministic compiling

I am getting some non-deterministic compilations from my MinGW
compiler. They're only off by a character or so. Can anyone clue me
in?

Define "non-deterministic compilations".
Define "off by a character or so".

My guess? You have an error on line 42 of your code.

Define "non-deterministic compilations".
Compile same source code more than once, resulting object files differ?
>Define "off by a character or so".
Compiler embeds compilation time in the object file?

In that case, I was comparing executables, not object files, so I
don't know. But same source yes.
Define "off by a character or so".

The number of differences did vary, but I didn't get the 'tell'.
Where's my 'diff'? ;)
My guess? *You have an error on line 42 of your code.
