_BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID(pHead->nBlockUse) error

I am facing _BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID(pHead->nBlockUse) assertion failure while returning from a function.
On debug found it is coming while destroying a string object local to the function.

The string is created as below.
std::string configpath = cfgmgr->getConfigpath();

getConfig returns a string by value.

on return this string is getting destroyed and throwing this assertion violation

Can anybody throw some light on this aspect.

I think you need to return a string by reference or it gets deallocated when it goes out of scope.

I cannot change the function signature since being supplied as dll.
But why this error comes when the string object is getting created on the same process space and being a local getting destroyed on return.
