plz explain about vertual function?

Virtual functions are used in object-oriented programming.

Here the idea is to write applications using a general object, like a Vehicle for instance. Then you create specific objects like Car, Boat or Airlplane and use those objects as arguments to functions expectieng a Vehicle.

The virtual function causes a call to Vehicle object member function to be re-routed to the specific object's member function. That way the specific object function is called instead. This preserves the specific object's behavior whn it is used as a general object.

For this to work, you need inheritance plus the virtual function in the base class must be overriden in the derived class. That is, the derived class member function must have the same name and the same arguments.
