please someone can tell me how to move by xline in a file?

is it correct:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.  for(i = 0; i < numberoflines; i++) 
  2. for(ch = getc(file); ch != '\n'; ch = getc(file))
  3.

That works if the lines end with a \n.

Of course, the 3rd \n is the end of the 3rd line. So the start of the second line is identified as one byte following the \n of the first line. You might watn to keep track of that.

Be aware that some compilers use \n while others use \r\n. That mean you couild have portability issues.
