int i = 0; is an initialization and int j = i; is an assignment.

Nope, they're both initializations, both for variables i and j; here's another exampe:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. int i= 0; // definition and initialization of i
  2. int j; // just a definition of j
  3. j= i; // assignment of j
  4.
kind regards,

Jos
