C++ compiler in Linux/Ubuntu?

Alright i have just installed Ubuntu and i was wondering if i could compile c++ in terminal?
Or do I have to install a compiler?

GCC is provided with most distributions and can be used to compile C and C++ source code.

The g++ command calls gcc with language set to C++ and specifies linking with C++ libraries.

Try running 'gcc -v' at the command line, you should get a version printed out. If you do not, you need to install gcc (this does not mean another is not on your system, though it would be odd if it was, depending on your image).
