The syntax of read() is read((char *)&V,sizeof(V)); Questions are
1. why typecasting to character pointer is required ?
2. Is it compulsary to use & with each &every variable. it tried it but without & also it works,then what is need of &

1.Because first argument takes a char pointer,in order to avoid compiler yelling about type conversions you cast it to char.

2.It depends on variable type,if it is array or a pointer then & is not necessary.

It's recommended to find some good book or tutorials about c++.That way you will really understand why read has such syntax
