Operating System Concepts class assignment

My assignment is to use POSIX shared memory to output the Fibonacci sequence. I'm running Visual C++ on Windows XP. When I try to execute a sample POSIX code, I get the error that I do not have the sys/shm.h header file. After searching the internet, I cannot find a place to download this header file. But I also read that POSIX wasn't compatible with Windows XP. Is this an impossible task for me or am I missing something?

Upto my knowledge POSIX code wont run on windows.
But if u can use cygwin then you can use POSIX libraries.
