Hi,

An initial step to network programming can be using socket interface.

You can google more on the socket interface.

If you are interested big time in networking I will suggest you to buy and read the book Internetworking with TCP/IP by Douglas E. Comer. (its simply a great book)

It has a chapter on socket interface so you should be happy to make the investment in book.

If you are not looking to spend, google for things like, linux socket interface or BSD socket interface.

BTW please tell me what is HP-UX, is it HP's variant of unix
