hi,
Have some delimitter, when u encounter a \n's containing data add up number of delimtters if it is 0 then eatup the \n,
finally you will get number of string/ Tokens in the file

This sounds like you are counting the number of lines that actually contain some data.

A single line can contain a lot of words, spaces, and punctuation. Is this what you are after?
