Using Format specifiers in C

What does the following format specifiers do

fscanf( fd, "%d : \"%[\t\r\n\40-\41\43-\177]\"",..../.);

What does the following format specifiers do

fscanf( fd, "%d : \"%[\t\r\n\40-\41\43-\177]\"",..../.);
Have you tried breaking this up and looking them up yourself? I would imagine that your textbook would have a reference for all the escape characters, so all you would need to do is figure out what the escaped numbers are (after you looked up the escaped characters). You might also consider looking up what the percent symbols mean in C.
