expecting gmon.out format for command line argument

Hi Friends,

My shell is giving me the following error for "gprof" comand.

gprof : file 'xxx.par' does not appear to be in gmon.out format

where xxx.par is the parameter file which i am using as a command line
argument to the executable i am trying to profile using gprof.
Expecting gmon.out for executable is understandable.... but why for
this command line argument?

Thank You,
Uday

Are you typing "gprof command xxx.par"? It doesn''t work like
that. You run "command xxx.par" and then run "gprof command".
