Send/Recieve binary data to device via comm port

Is there any functions for sending/receiving binary data via comm port to some device in C or C++?
Can you give me some tutorials about this functions?
And where can i find them?

As the Posting Guidelines ask you to include, what have you looked into/researched/coded in this already?

Have you been successful searching Google for either sending/receiving binary data, or communicating through a COM port?
