__security_cookie error when compiling a VC6 app which uses a VC8 compiled library

Hi

In one of my projects I have to consume an VC8 compiled library from within a VC6 application. When i compile my application in VC6 i get a linker error error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol ___security_cookie

Can someone help in this regard.

thanks

Be aware that backwards compatibility is not guaranteed by Visual Studio.

That said, since this is a linker error, the extern symbol cannot be located.

Have you a) gone to your project settings and added the the security library as an addtional linker dependency and b) gone to Tools/Options and set the path to the library so the linker can find it?

And finally, why are you stilkl using VC8.0? Lotta problems and service packs in VC6.0 plus big problems in templates that were only fixed in VC8.0 and were not backfitted
