Embedding metadata into executables at compile-time

P: 6
Hi All

Not strictly a C++ question, but is there a way of embedding metadata such as Version, company, comments into a dll/exe at compile-time using Visual Studio. Its obviously possible as most commercial software has the data embedded which windows displays in the file's properties under the Version tab.

Windows XP
Visual Studio .NET (2002)
C++ projects/solutions

The closest I've found is assembly version numbers, but not sure if that's what I want?

Thanks in advance

In case this is of any use to anyone, its a matter of simply including a Version resource to the project. i.e. Add -> add resource -> version

So Simple
