Start learning VC++ 2005

Hello friends,

I came back after so many days with a question.

I had been working in VB.Net and C# for last one year. But from next month, I have to work in a new project that uses VC++ 2005 in .NET environment. But the problem is, it seems too complicated to me like: MFC, ATL and normal C++.cpp and again the VC++ CLR Windows Forms Application has different syntax ! My god ! I'm so scared ! Can anyone give me a guidline from where to start learning and how can I get the overall idea about the work flow or even where to write my desired code inside the TODO supplied codes. Guys please help me. I'm really scared.

Regards,
Zerin

Be afraid. Be very afraid. ;)

MFC is a pain in the ass. I've heard the same about ATL. But you will have differences and problem in all libraries. You just got to focus on what you need and use it as needed.

If I knew everything that there was to know, my head would explode like stacies avatar.

As for where to go for more info, I think I learned everything I know from a MFC book and ATL pamphlet. I know how windowing managers (and everything else) works in general and use that as a base to learn what I need to learn further (i.e. what a library should have to do what I need, so I search for that). Unless I have a need, I don't bother to learn. I'm usually way too busy doing/learning other things.

Probably, you have an assignment. That assignment will probably require only one kind of project. Probably, that is the only one you need to know how to operate.

I know of no one that does all of the project types in Visual Studio. Like me. I just do C++.
