OPENSC COMPILATION: windows.h

1
Hey Im having an issue with installing and compiling OPENSC an open source C project. The instructions for compiling the source are at

http://www.opensc-project.org/opensc/wiki/CompilingInstalling.

Now im using the nmake compiler which i Believe is a part of the Microsoft Visual Studio Framework. It is giving me some serious issues though. I cannot seem to be able to see my SDK include directory which contains files such as windows.h which are required by the source that I am compiling. The SDK directory is included in the PATH environment variable yet it still cant be seen by the nmake compiler. In Microsoft Visual studios the build operation is even more messed up it cant even seem to the source.

In Visual Studio I assume:
1) you have created a project
2) you have added your source files to this project
3) you have added the path to your SDK by going to project properties, selecting linker, selecting input, and added the path to your SDK in the Additional Dependencies property.

All the above are true, yes?

To my knowledge, Visual Studio does not use the PATH envirionment variable.
