Hi all,
What is world coordinates and pixel coordinates? I'm totally confused. Please provide some material if possible.

Thanks

Suppose a laptop has a screen with 1024x768 pixels (Width x Height).
Also suppose you want to draw a square garden of 10x10 metres. The first
pair make up the pixel coordinates, the second pair are measured in world
coordinates.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the largest square that
can be drawn on the screen (using horizontal and vertical lines only) measures
768 pixels in size. Thos 768 pixels represent 10 metres. That is the mapping
from world coordinates to device/pixel coordinates.

A lot of graphics packages do the mapping for you so that your own software
just has to deal with world coordinates.

kind regards,

Jos

So how do I define a world coordinate and a pixel coordinate? Means what is there definations?
Is viewport a part of world coordinate?
Is there any document which can give me some more information on them.

You don't have to define pixel coordinates, i.e. they're already there. Defining
world coordinates differs per graphics package you want to use and also on
the host platform your software is running on. Any good text book on graphics
can explain to you everything you want to know.

You can even download one if you like (I haven't read this one, I just googled it).

kind regards,

Jos
