Paths in C++

I am using a star network and I would like to access a file in the same network drive (the R drive) as my program, however, it is 5 directories back from my program. The file I am trying to alter using the ofstream and ifstream commands is called stbedes.txt.

When I put:

ofstream a_file ( "\\4602apps001\resources$\stbedes.jpg" );

and

ifstream b_file ( "\\4602apps001\resources$\stbedes.jpg" );

my compiler (Dev-C++ made by Bloodshed) doesn't like the "\s" bit. How can I tell my program to either access the file stbedes.txt by going 5 directories back, or, as I've tried here, access \\4602apps001\resources$\stbedes.txt?

The backslash character in a string is considered a special character as in
"\n" (newline) "\r" (carriage return) etc. etc.

If you want an ordinary backslash character to appear in your string you have
to escape that backslash by using another backslash, i.e. the string "\\"
is just a single character string containing one backslash.

hint: that double backslash at the front must be escaped too for every backslash.
