How to empty a Socket descriptor

i m accepting packets from a client and i want to accept the first packet
but the client is constantly sending packets
i need to empty the buffer that the kernel maintains for a socket i.e packet quee every time when i m reading a packet


plz someone help its urgent!!!!!!!!!!!

i myself is not maitaining a buffer
i m talking abt the buffer that is maintained by the kernel
i.e. the quee in which the the kernel stores the incoming packets
i want to empty it so that after required time i can get only the packet from the required user
