Please clarify more programmer friendly than what?
Dev c++
emacs (or Xemacs)

and a host of others have some (different between them) really useful features. Some of these editors allow code folding, All allow syntax highlighting (which helps find spelling errors or accidental use of reserved word), and most (id not all) support some form of Auto-indent (although I struggle to get Dev to do exactly what i want in regards to indenting)and parenthesis matching....

Much of this type of functionality (automatic pretty print/indent, syntax highlighting, automatic tab (often as individual spaces) can help users to identify different problems (or potential problems) in their code.

There are also a host of "compile Tools" (splint, LeakTracer) and debuggers (gdb/ddd, most IDE's have inbuilt ones) that may help highlight potential errors.

Perhaps you should identify first what sort of helper functionality you want in an editor (for example even useful functionality like autotab may sometimes frustrate people). Once you have decided what you want to do, you can consider how to do it (and you might like to post again then)
