dev c++ help

P: 13
Hi there,

I'm fairly new at this, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm using Dev C++ to edit, compile and run my C++ programs.
But when I try to run a program with an output....I see the dos window flash on the screen and then disappear again.
I'm not sure if I have the setting wrong or something....because everything compiles successfully and runs as well...I just can't see the output. I tried this with a few different programs, and all with the same result.
i have the project set as Win32 console.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You are running it in the debugger which doesn't stop when the program exits and displays the results.

There should be an option to just execute the program as opposed to debug it. The OAS should then stop when the program finishes to display the results.

Not sure about the debugger portion, but you can also insert the following statement:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. system("PAUSE");
just before the return statement in main(). This will pause the program until you press a key so that you can see the output.

I believe this is Windows specific, though.
