How to Query a database from the remote machine in C++

I have this C++ program that queries the database on the local host. But if I have to query the database that from a remote machine then what are the commands and libraries that I have to include in the program?

I am a newbie and sorry for my silly question...

Silly questions are fine, however, I would ask what you have tried to do with yours - you don't mention a type of DB or anything. I'm betting a simple search in google of "C++ connect ms sql" (if your db is M$ sql), would resolve your issue...
