BTW: What is this forum about, anyway.

Yeah, yeah, I know this section is about C++, but what got theScripts going in the first place? The crowd here generally seems to be a school/college crowd and there appears to be a lot of nubies to C++ and other languages, too. How come they are flocking here? Are you affiliated with a school or some other institute?

I found you through a google search for C++ forums. Is that how most people find this site?

Don't get me wrong, I like the site. It's low keyed enough to be interesting and fun. The questions are reasonable and not too esoteric. The questions are making me to go back and look at issues I haven't thought about since school.

Keep up the good work.

I'm one year out of college, and I found the site through a Google search as well. I think people come here because of the reason I'm not on a newsgroup right now - they tend to be much more disparaging and not helpful unless you have 5+ years of hardcore coding under your belt. That's definitely one thing that encouraged me to stay at theScripts, they offer help to those n00bs who are willing to try. (and Killer42's avatar hypnotized me)

The general ethos behind the site is that the experts, moderators, admins, etc. are all volunteers who have have an interest in imparting knowledge for the sake of it rather than any reward scheme. We encourage noobies and college students to post questions as long as they are willing to attempt an answer first and willing to put in the work to learn. The experts, mods, etc are a mix of professionals and some gifted students. I think generally it is a site for programmers who are excited about programming. It can get quite addictive. The site is not a commercial one outside of the basics needed to support development and maintenance.

If I can provide any further information please don't hesitate to ask. We're rather proud of what we're building here.
