Combining static libraries

Hi,

How do you combine multiple static .a files into one static .a file?

The work around is to unarchive the .a's to the .o's then rearchive them. But I thought there was a cleaner way.
thanks in advance

Off-topic in here, try a group for your system, perhaps gnu.g++.help
or so.
