How to see the results

i just start learning programming myself.i have a book,but the content is all about how to write the code.i have bought the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Professional Editi.But,i don't know where i should write the code.Should i open a new project to start,or a new workspace to start.I have just copied a correct series of code into a new workspace.Then, how can i see the results ? i want to know whether the program i write can function or not?

Hi
Go to File | New and select the Projects tab
In the list on the left select Win32 Console Application.
In the text box top right put a name. Something like 'myfirstapp'
Click OK
Then select 'A Hello World Application' and click finish

Good luck

Thanks for your guide,willakawill.But,the guide you gave does not seem to really help me.What i want is where i can write the code myself and see the results
The code i am going to write is as the below:
#include<iostream.h>
main()
{
int x,y,sum;
cout<<"\nEnter first number:";
cin>>x;
cout<<"\nEnter second number:";
cin>>y;
sum=x+y;
cout<<"\nSum="<<sum;
return 0;
}

If you did what I said to do you would be well on your way to writing this code. Seems like you don't want to learn much.

i think there are some misunderstandings.First,i am passionate indeed to learn programming.Second,i really really have followed ur instruction to do.But ,what can i do next to see the final results

May be the results has made u misunderstood what i really want to know.So, i think it is better for me to ask my question like this:How and where can i run the program that i have written.Thanks.
