Memory leaks in STL

9
I am declaring a map which takes a ulong as a key and a structure as the value. I use erase a the appropriate places to remove the key vaue pair, but when I leave my program running for a long time, the memory usage keeps increasing and it crashes as the system runs out of memory. I am not sure as to what is happening, the entire code doesnt have any dynamic memory allocation other than using the map.

PS: Sorry I coudnt provide the code as its a processor simulator and too large a code base to be shown here

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Can someone please help me with this, I am stuck for now two days. I get the following error

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
what(): St9bad_alloc

I have a map, with a ulong key and a structure having three ulongs as the value. It works fine for smaller data sets and using the top command I see that the memory usage is stable around 5% but with a slightly large input step it eats up all of the memory and crashes. Can you please help, its a huge codebase and I am not sure how I can paste the code here, sorry about that

Awaiting a response

Thanks

Are you using pointers anywhere else in your program?

If you'r not, and you are properly using .erase() every time you get rid of something, than the only explanation is that the program is simply too big for your computer to handle.
