output random letters

I'd like to get a word from a text file and print the letters of the word at random in the screen output. How do i do this? thanks for tips.

oh...wel...we all took a break from doing the project and we're starting on the dictionary again. I'm working on it right now but the problem is our professor said we're not allowed to use tree nodes, so that was a big ouch. Only arrays, strings, and fopen/fclose structures are really allowed. I was just thinking about the random letters. Only command i know in c++ in helping me here is rand()... i just don't know how i could get the letters from the saved file (still working on that) and randomize them. it's really hard...damn.
