How to read data from barcode scanner using c++ on ubuntu(Linux)

hi,
Please tell me,how to read data from a barcode reader using C++. My OS is (ubuntu)Linux?. I have connected my barcode scanner in com1(dev/ttyS0) and I am using minicom for communication.I am using gcc 4.0.If any1 has any info pliz mail me.
