creating dll's - converting a console app into a dll!

I'm reusing someone elses code on a project. The idea is to change the code from a console application to a DLL of all the functions without having to start from scratch. it's basically a main cpp program calling bunch of different functions in other cpp files.

My question is if I pull in these other cpp files into my dll application, is there a way to make these functions in these cpp files public(global) to my compiled dll.

I currently compiled my dll without any errors but the functions from the cpp are not available.

any ideas? I would put source code but that might be overkill.

any suggestions would be great.
