loading a text file and populating values for an external application

P: 2
heres the scenario:

i have a book and i scanned its barcode to get all the information using app A, but i need all these info, plus more to print a new barcode using a barcode software, app B. i was thinking that app A could probably produce a text file that will store all info, and then i need to load this text file to be able to input it on app B, but im not very sure how to do this or if its even possible without having to tweak the source code of app B since its an off the shelf software.

thanks in advance, if you have any sample codes, the better..

im thinking of doing this either in java or C.
