Requeting Book suggestions/comments

I would appreciate comments on good up-to-date books on C++.

I have been using C++ for some time but really what I do is little more
than bastardized C, so I want to bring myself up to speed.

I will be getting a copy of "The C++ Programming Language" by
Stroustrup, but should I be looking at the 3rd edition or the special
edition - or are they the same thing?

In your opinions would I then requires another reference book to bring
me up to date on libraries? If so which are good - I find a lot of
what I have browsed through in book stores really have a lot of waffle
and too many images of screen dumps.

See the many reviews at http://accu.org.

_Accelerated C++_ by Koenig and Moo will teach you the right way.

Stroustrup tries to give the big picture and shows you how to use the
language. Although his sentence structure is often somewhat unhandy, I
think he basically succeeds. But a lot of times it seems he
oversimplifies, and I believe he is often imprecise so that he can get
the main point across.

If you are the kind who likes getting down to brass tacks, so to speak,
you will eventually want:

The C++ Standard: Incorporating Technical Corrigendum No. 1 (Hardcover)
by British Standards Institute, Bjarne Stroustrup (Foreword)
