release memory occupied by Char array..

Hi,

Following code is creating assertion
Please help me to release memory occupied by Char array..

char *nm = new char[8];
strcpy(nm,"Prashant");
delete []nm;

The delete is not the problem the problem is that you allocate a buffer of 8 characters and then copy 9 characters into it. Remeber is C/C++ strings have a terminating NULL ('\0') character so "Prashant" is 9 characters long.
