C++ overloading operators(OPERANDS)

hi,
i am having some trouble with my walkthroug's, like i am not able to understand which operand is which...like in this case.....(a * c) * b;.........i have an overloading operator for this;which actually takes a single object and then performs rest of the stuff...i really don't know..which object is being taken by my overloading operator...please if somebody can assist me with this problem
