ilk - produced by the linker, I think it contains data that helps the incremental linker do it's job.

dsw - Workspace file, basically contains a list of projects and their relationship to each other. Text file

dsp - Project file, contins lists of C/C++ and header files that constitute a particular project plus the compiler and linker options.

exp - binary file sometimes produced when creating a exe or dll that exports some functions to assist in linking/relinking

opt - I believe this file contains some of the current options/state in operation the workspace. It does not contain anything critical to the project just things like current open files etc. I do not know if it is binary or texct as I have never bothered looking inside it.
