Serial ID of Hard Disc

How can I get the serial ID of the Hard disc , which is displayed during
boot up - preferrably in C ;
whithout having to communicate with the hard disc by myself with the IO
registers ?

This has nothing to do with the C language, and much to do with the
system you are running. It does sound suspiciously like Windblows,
so look for a newsgroup with windows in its name.

OT hint: Using 4dos, those values show up on every dir command. The
interrupt list might also give you some clues.

There is no standard mechanism for doing this. Ask on a group dedicated
for your platform, but only after checking the FAQ and previous postings
to the group.

In general, you cannot do that.
