error: storage size of `xxxx' isn't known

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to C. What does the error message "storage size of
'xxxxx' isn't known mean?

TIA,
- Madhu

Off the top of my head...

Your compiler does not know how many bytes to allocate for a specific type.
You are using an incomplete type, probably. You have the 'forward
declaration' but not the actual definition.
