C89 drafts

[Enrico `Trippo' Porreca]

I already own the latest C99 draft, but I'd like to get a copy of a
similar document about the older C89 standard. I googled for it but I
found just some broken links... Does someone know where to find it? Or
maybe there isn't a legal copy online?

You can almost certainly get it from Global Engineering Documents
(global.ihs.com), either the original ANSI version (X3.159) or the ISO
version (ISO/IEC 9899:1990), but you probably won't like the price. I
understand that it's also available from British Standards
(www.bsi-global.com). If you can find a copy of Herb Schildt's book
(The Annotated ANSI C Standard), it includes a copy of the standard.

Almost; there's a page missing. (The missing page happens to be
reproduced in P.J. Plauger's book "The Standard C Library".)

And watch out for the annotations; see
<http://www.lysator.liu.se/c/schildt.html>. The book was much cheaper
than the unannotated standard; it was often said that the price
difference reflected the value of the annotations.

The book has been out of print for several years, but you may be able
to find a used copy.
