derived

Hail to all.
I have a problem that I hope could help me to resolve.
I should write a small program that calculates the derived symbolic of
a given function under form of bootlace.
Where could I find the proper information?
Thank you for the help.
Ric.

I have no idea what this means: "derived symbolic...under form of bootlace".
I cannot find any mention of "bootlace" on Google that relates to
programming, expect a program called Bootlace (and one called Shoelace that
is somehow related).

Can you ask your question with more details, perhaps finding a better
translation into English?
