disambiguate my Large Scale design probs (C++)

Remember the masterminded Lakos?

So, I was going through section on opaque pointers and dumb data (ch 5
I believe) and just couldn't understand it - even after several
re-reads. Concept is great but explanation is limited... does anyone
have a better explanation (please, with suggestive examples) or can
point to one, I would gladly appreciate it.
thanks a bunch
