Passing parameters to a function

How do I write a function where the number of parameters it takes

This is what I have but it doesnt work.

// function prototype
void functionThree(i nt num1=1, int num2=2, int num3=3);

int main()
int number1 = 10;
int number2 = 20;
int number3 = 30;

cout << "Values when passing no parameters:\n";
functionThree( , , );

cout << endl << endl;

cout << "Values when passing one parameter:\n";
functionThree(n umber1, , );

cout << endl << endl;

cout << "Values when passing two parameters:\n";
functionThree(n umber1, number2, );

cout << endl << endl;

cout << "Values when passing all three parameters:\n";
functionThree(n umber1, number2, number3);

return 0;

void functionThree(i nt num1, int num2, int num3)
int sum;
sum = 0;

cout << num1 << endl
<< num2 << endl
<< num3 << endl;

sum = num1 + num2 + num3;

cout << num1 << " + " << num2 << " + " << num3
<< " = " << sum << endl;

Thanks Martin. Obviously I'm new to this.

Hallo, I have been programming for restricted environments where Internet Explorer is a standard, so I haven't stumbled upon this problem until now, when I need to write a DOM-compatible code. The question is about best practices for passing parameters to an event function. I have, say, the following HTML:

Hi all, Forgive me if I've expressed the subject line ill. What I'm trying to do is to call a c++ function given the following: a. A function name. This would be used to fetch a list of function descriptors for the overloaded functions of that name. A function descriptor would contain the address of the function to be called, and a description of the parameters that it must take. b. A list of parameters. This would be compared to the...

Just spent a happy 10 mins trying to understand a function I wrote sometime ago. Then remembered that arguments are passed by reference, by default. Does the fact that this slowed me down indicate: a) That I don't know enough b) Passing arguments by ref is bad

The library function 'qsort' is declared thus: void qsort(void *base, size_t nmemb, size_t size, int(*compar)(const void *, const void *)); If in my code I write: int cmp_fcn(...); int (*fcmp)() = &cmp_fcn; qsort(..., fcmp); then everything works. But if instead I code qsort as:

I am new to ASP.net (intermediate ASP developer). I am developing a ASP.net web application and I am having some difficulty calling and passing parameters to a function that is declared in my "codebehind" page. Function declaration: Sub MyFunction(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)

I have just tried to pass parameters to a procedure in VB 2005 and realised that you only need to pass the input parameter. The output parameter's value will be returned without the need to pass it as was the case in the previous version of VB e.g. VB .Net 2003. Here's the procedure in the web service: Public Sub Convert2Dollar(ByVal euroAmount As Double, ByRef usDollarAmount As Double) Dim exchangeRate As Double exchangeRate = 10 / 6

I am a beginner with AJAX, and have managed to learn how to use it when passing single parameters, but I want to return more than one value to the client-side JavaScript function that displays it. My client-side JavaScript function takes 4 parameters (which are expected to be integers). The idea of passing a single parameter and parsing it on the client has occurred to me, but since I am sure I am not the only person who has situations that...

Hi, I have just started learning C++ language.. I've read much even tried to understand the way standard says but still can't get the grasp of that concept. When parameters are passed/returned by value temporaries are created?(I'm not touching yet the cases where standard allows optimizations from the side of implementations to avoid copying) If so, please quote part of the standard that says that. Assuming it is true, I can imagine two...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
