Ah! Now I get it! After a first read I didn't notice the 'F' and 'S' signs in all that
binary blubber and I had no idea what you were talking about. Nice little project
indeed; maybe as a complementary little project the creation of a maze can be
considered?

kind regards,

Jos

After completing that first part properly, it'll only be a small extension.

I'm doing some experiments with mini declarative languages (as explained by David Mertz in http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/l-cpdec.html) in Python, with the intention to use it as the mechanism to define data entry forms. My final goal is to have a simple approach to automatic generation of visual interfaces. The complete framework is rather big, so let's us focus at this specific problem. -- I would like to describe my...

Hi, I'm in the middle of "teaching" myself C++. Having skimmed some of the "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days" book, I got a feel for the language, at least. Then I bought "The C++ Programming Language" because it was on offer, and I'd have ended up buying it at some stage anyway. Skimmed some of that, but there's too much detail (for now) and I know I won't take it in if I don't get some practice in actually *writing* programs in C++. I'm...

VS 2005. I have compiled my dlls/exes in Release mode and also setting Debug Info="full"under Project - Properties - Build - select "Release" under "Configuration" drop down - the Advanced button at the bottom. When I compile, I get all pdbs for each dll/exe. We are running Win XP. At the client, my app then crashes, and a dump is created on the user machine where the app runs, but it is completely empty. Of course, I would like to get...

This is an entry I just added to ASPN. It is a somewhat novel technique I have employed quite successfully in my code. I repost it here for more explosure and discussions. http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Python/Recipe/475158 wy ------------------------------------------------------------------------

as one would expect when creating a body of software, eventually you create a series of relatively generic components you find yourself using over and over again. As a result, I'm finding myself slightly bit by the same problem I have faced multiple times of the past. Namely, how do you distribute "small" components that are used in a series of larger applications. Yes, I could turn each 300 line file into a Python module complete with...

Hi, I just wrote a mini C# lab for myself, I think it may be useful for others, so I shared it on my blog. If you often need to write only serveral lines of code and don't want to waste time on waiting for Visual Studio startup, maybe you will be interested in it. http://blog.darkthread.net/blogs/darkthreadtw/archive/2008/05/27/mini-csharp-lab.aspx

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
