Borland C++ 4.52

Does anybody know where I can download Borland C++ 4.52 from? Some
years ago it was available "free" on a magazine cover. So I'm hoping
that it's available from somewhere without upsetting the license/licence
owners, but I can't find it on Borland's web pages. I'd settle for an
earlier version.

Many other vendors offer free C++ command-line compilers,
and even free IDE editions. Just look it up...

Despite the triviality of the question, you have failed to answer it.
Note that I refer (quite unambiguously) to version 4.52 or earlier, not
5.5.

Beats me why you'd be ok with an earlier version, but not a later one,
especially as this makes your question even less relevant to this NG.
Forgive my misunderstandin g.
If your request is for a specific, antiquated version of a specific
compiler, try posting it on a forum dedicated to that compiler.

Thanks.

I think it was able to make 16 bit applications. So you can code for
Nokia Communicator e.g.
I didn't find one, that's why I sold my Nokia back then.

If targeting 16-bit x86 was the objective of the OP, it would have
been a good idea to mention it.
I think that other free C++ compilers support 16-bit x86 (DOS or
windows). Shouldn't gcc do it? Then there is Digital Mars:
http://www.digitalmars.com/download/freecompiler.html
It even appears to have a Borland C++ command-line emulator...
It is not the most standard-compliant, but other compilers of
that era wouldn't be much better anyway...
Cheers,
Ivan

Borland sells Turbo C++ 4.5 as a "classic" edition:

They also offer Turbo C++ 1.1 for free:

Hi! Many people have complained over years that Borland's dbExpress driver does not work with MySQL and transactions, because it disconnects from mysqld after each SQL statement. The postings below suggests that this problem might now be fixed by Borland. Best regards, Heikki Tuuri

I am wondering if it is feasible to use .NET for applications that have to be very fast. We have a few applications that are blazingly fast, written in Borland C++ using Borland C++ Builder. We would like to port over to ..NET, but some of the test models we have developed are MUCH, MUCH slower than it's Borland counterpart. Is this due to the .NET Framework and the JIT? Or is it something we should be looking for in the project...

I am just beginning programming again and need a bit of advice. I have both Visual C++ 6.0 Standard Edition and Borland C++ Builder 6. Of these two which do you consider the best for programming windows programs (not the DOS style program). I have had a quick look at both of these and Borland seems to have a lot more components (Buttons, Forms etc) than Microsoft Visual C++. Does Visual C++ have these components easily accesable. Chris.

Hi At my college some IT students were giving away free older computer books. I got a book called Borland C++ a programmers guide. So I was really just wondering what this Borland C++ is? I know C++ is a programming language, but Borland? And is this book, thats from 1992 still valid, or is it outdated? I hope someone can answer me, or point me to the right place.

Borland's BGI graphics library (GRAPHICS.LIB, GRAPHICS.TPU) has a bug which can cause the floodfill routine to crash. It's most likely to occur in C applications when compiled using the small data (64K) memory models. To see the bug in action, compile the C demo program supplied below. Make sure the target is set for DOS and the small or medium memory model is used. For floodfill to crash requires two conditions be met: - the fill is...

Hi, I have just inherited some embedded software that was compiled with Borland 4.52. I need to either purchase that compiler, which Borland no longer appear to sell or alternatively source an upgrade/compatible compiler. Do Borland sell a newer version of the 4.52 compiler that will still allow me to compile a DOS executable? Regards, Darren

Am wondering whether Borland C++ 4.5 or Borland Turbo C++ 1.01 supported C++ templates. If not, which other future version of BC++ or TC++ did? If BC++ 4.5 or TC++ 1.01 does support it, how much of the C++ language does it support.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention.
