Greetings. I can't invest a large amount of time into this, but it would be very helpful if I could do this. I have a directory full of xml files I'd like to be able to query to find out things like: find all elements of type "<table" that contain as subelements (elements of type "row" that have attributes of type "lookup" which have value

I have .NET Frame projects that can be downloaded from the Web in setup.exe files. These files are less than a megabyte in size. They are demos for clients. If the user's computer doesn't have .NET Framework installed, he runs dotnetfx.exe. This is a 25-MByte file. Although it can be redistributed by a software producer, it is hardly practical for users to tie up my Web server to download a 25-MByte file along with 200 KByte...

Hi there folks I've got an interesting little problem going on. On one of my projects, I have users log in to retrieve files. The files themselves are stored outside of the www directory on the server, so the only way they can be downloaded is for PHP to stream them to the user. My problem is that my downloads are always "completing" too soon, and always around 1.6 -> 1.9 MB. So, when I try to download a 50MB file, I'm told that...

This code works fine to download files from the web and write them to the local drive: import urllib f = urllib.urlopen("http://www.python.org/blah/blah.zip") g = f.read() file = open("blah.zip", "wb") file.write(g) file.close()

Hi there: a bit of a left-field question, I think. I'm writing a program that analyses image files downloaded with a basic crawler, and it's slow, mainly because I only want to analyse files within a certain size range, and I'm having to download all the files on the page, open them, get their size, and then only analyse the ones that are in that size range. Is there a way (in python, of course!) to get the size of images before or...

Hello, I am a beginner/intermediate c++ coder. I have a program that I am writing and would like to be able to distribute to some of my friends. The problem with this is that the data files required by it are rather large, and most of them have email accounts with filesize limits. What I want to do is upload the files they'll need to my webpage and then have the program itself check to see if the files are present in the directories (I...

There is a Linux forum that I frequent from time to time on which I mentioned a couple of scripts that I wrote. The editors of a small Linux magazine heard and found them interesting enough to ask me to write an article about them. I accepted gladly, of course. I wrote the article and submitted it and I was told to look for it on the January issue. Sounds good, right? The thing is I am starting to get a little nervous about it. You...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
