spirit 1.6.0 stlport 4.6.2 msvc6

I am trying to switch to STLPort 4.6.2 from the MSVC STL.
My project uses Spirit 1.6.0 and MSVC++ 6.

I have configured STLPort as follows:
#define _STLP_NO_OWN_IO STREAMS 1
#define _STLP_USE_OWN_N AMESPACE 1
#define _STLP_REDEFINE_ STD 1

In other words, STLPort is configured to used MSVC's iostreams.

I am running into a problem with BOOST_SPIRIT_CH AR_TRAITS_NAMES PACE

I get the error:

c:\boost\boost\ spirit\core\pri mitives\impl\pr imitives.ipp(12 7) : error
C2059: syntax error : '<'

---- excerpt from primitives.ipp lines 125-132 ----
template <typename CharT>
inline typename
-> BOOST_SPIRIT_CH AR_TRAITS_NAMES PACE::char_trai ts<CharT>::int_ type
to_int_type(Cha rT c)
{
return BOOST_SPIRIT_CH AR_TRAITS_NAMES PACE
::char_traits<C harT>::to_int_t ype(c);
}
---- end excerpt ----

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

By the way, I tried adding warning 4103 to the disabled errors in
_msvc_warnings_ off.h (STLPort), but I still get a bunch of them. They
do go away if I wack pragma warning( pop ) from epilog.h, but that
defeats the purpose....

Thanks, "Pete"

I have changed my approach. I now have

#define _STLP_NO_OWN_NA MESPACE

and do not define the things I did before. This configures STLPort to
use its own iostreams and put them in the std:: namespace. I think that
Spirit will build this way.

This means I need to build the STLPort library. I tried making an MSVC
project and building in the environment, and that didn't work. The
first error is 'char_traits' : undeclared identifier. I tried using the
command line makefiles, but I don't have any experience with those. The
first error I get is
...\\stlport\st l/_hashtable.h(11 0) : error C2146: syntax error : missing
';' before identifier 'iterator_categ ory'
...\\stlport\st l/_hashtable.h(13 7) : see reference to class template
instantiation
'_STLP_STD::_Ht _iterator<_Val, _Traits,_Key,_H F,_ExK,_EqK,_Al l>' being
compiled.

I know these are really "handholdin g" questions, but can anyone explain
how to build and use this thing? I find the installation instructions
quite vague.
Thanks, "Pete"

Finally, I can build the library. The configuration is to define

#define _STLP_USE_OWN_N AMESPACE 1
#define _STLP_REDEFINE_ STD 1

and (of course) do not define _STLP_NO_OWN_IO STREAMS.

I can also build and run my application.

Thank you all for your indulgence,

"Pete"
P.S. One additional gotcha: make sure that you do not define /J.

I'm sure it's been done. I'm sure that I'm an idiot for even asking the question, but has anyone been successful in getting Comeau 4.3.0.1 to compile STLPort, or even use STLPort in a program (using the MSVC7 backend, I should state)? There doesn't seem to be any out of the box support for Comeau on Win32/MSVC7 in STLPort, but that's okay, I would think, as it does create libraries for MSVC7.

Hi, I'm using STLport-4.5.3 with Visual C++ 6.0 on Windows XP. It seems, the module built requires MSVCP60.DLL - which (mostly) contains Streams implementation by Microsoft. So, STLport falls back on Microsoft implementation of STL for Streams support. That Microsoft DLL is ~ 500K in size...because my app is deployed over Internet, these extra 500K present a problem. Q1. Can STLport-4.5.3 be configured to not use Microsoft's STL at all...

Hi C++ supporters I just wanted to let you know that STLport 5.1.0 has been released, it is available here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/stlport/ Since 5.0 this library implements some interesting (and original I hope) features like: - template expression for string concatenation (activable through

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
