how do I get the value from an item in a listviews ItemTemplate?

I want to make a link button invisible based on a value in a field on a list view per row in an ItemTemplate. I am having trouble capturing the value with in a particular field.

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. protected void ListView_OnItemDataBound(object sender, ListViewItemEventArgs e)
  2.     {
  3.       if (e.Item.ItemType == ListViewItemType.DataItem)
  4.         {
  5.             string status = ((Label)e.Item.FindControl("RecordStatus")).Text;
  6.          }
  7.     }

I figured out what I needed to do. First, make sure there is a label to grab then..
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Label status = (Label)e.Item.FindControl("RecordStatus");
  2.            if (status.Text == "Inactive")
  3.            {
  4.                delete.Visible = false;
  5.            }
