Help needed with my setAppSettings() method

i created this method
i wrote a method to set 2 connection strings and 1 appsetting path in app.config, application settings

public void setAppSettings()
        {
            Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(ConfigurationUserLevel.None);
            config.ConnectionStrings.ConnectionStrings["QwixAssetProject.Properties.Settings.GriffenConnectionString"].ConnectionString = dbValue;
            config.ConnectionStrings.ConnectionStrings["QwixAssetProject.Properties.Settings.qxAssetsCompanyBindingSource"].ConnectionString = dbValue;
            config.AppSettings.Settings["Database"].Value = dbValue;
            config.Save(ConfigurationSaveMode.Modified);
 
        }

This doesn't seem to work, what am i doing wrong?

Hmm is that a valid way to do it?

I do it with this?

Settings.Default.SomeTextValue= "something";
Settings.Default.Save();
 

Settings is under PROJECTNAMESPACE.Properties.Settings
