Current User - C# / C Sharp

i want to display the current logged in user name from the sql database, the user loggs in from a small screen that just asks for the information, proccesses it and then opens up the main screen. i want to show the current logged in user in the main program, How do i do that?

Can you specify what kind of application you are developing? like windows form or asp.net?... If you are taking in username as input you could use form based authentication its will simplify things for you (for asp.net app)...

it's a windows app, you log on(small form) the form checks the database if the information is correct and then it opens up the main form if it is. now i want the the user name to display on the main form in a label, the label must get assigned the user that just logged in

Use a public static variable in form1... Or perhaps you could create a static class with userName as a static field .. if its initialized it should be available in form2...
