line break in message box

I need to display a message box in my windows application..

the text for the message is read from app.config.

i need to put a line break in the message box. i tried to put \n in the text that i configured in app.config. it doesn't seem to help.

any suggestions on this?

I think its something to do with double slashes

I have a workaround in the meantime before you get a proper answer

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.  System.Configuration.AppSettingsReader ar = new System.Configuration.AppSettingsReader();
  2.             string str = ((string)ar.GetValue("MyTest", typeof(string))).Replace("\\n", "\n");
  3.                MessageBox.Show(str);

The standard break line in c# applications is \r\n, try it!

The \r\n works on Microsoft's implementation of C#. There are others, that might use \n (for example Mono on Linux). I have started to use Environment.NewLine, since it knows what works on the system.
