String parsing question

I have a system where the user inputs a string, that can have "tags" in
them (such as "<Tag1>"). This is then replaced in the fashion of
String.Replace.

However, I want this not to be case-sensitive. Turning the whole string
lowercase is not an option - there can be other data on it, too.

*this is probably something really simple that I just can't figure out...*
